Unfortunately, the severity of Hurricane Ian didn’t make for a very fun “Hurricane Party”. Instead, we battled water and eventually took cover in a stairwell to ride out much of the storm.
With no electricity, internet, or means to leave the flooded area — we spent the morning after Hurricane Ian walking around our gated community checking on neighbors and taking photos of the destruction.
It was then time to head back upstairs and start cleaning up our mess
Although our Association replaced the roof in 2015, the membrane did not hold up during the storm. As a result, water breached our top-floor unit through the walls.
It’s a good thing we upped our insurance policy months before the storm!
