If you’ve been following along with our Hurricane Ian updates, you’ll know that we just had an emergency HOA meeting about the hurricane yesterday.
I’m happy to report that today, SouthernCAT is on the roof repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Ian a few days ago. This is big news for us because the roof caused most of our water damage during the storm. No more leaks when it rains!
Much of Punta Gorda has electricity and water restored, and although we don’t, we’re not exactly in the dark.
SouthernCAT has brought in two generators to power the dehumidifiers and air scrubbers that they dropped off for each unit.
It means that we now have a couple outlets powered by their generators, which we can use to charge our cell phones and run some fans — it’s currently 96º F indoors.
The timing could not have been better, we had exhausted all of the water in our tub to flush the toilet. This dehumidifier is providing about 4-5 flushes per day, which means we don’t have to walk up and down 5 stories of stairs with buckets of pool water.
This is also the first night since the Hurricane Ian that we’ve relaxed and enjoyed the sunset at home. Thanks SouthernCAT!
